Finder’s Keepers1. My daughter was 5 or 6 years old when she called and said she and her friends found a kitten and asked if she could keep it. I knew my husband could not stand cats so I said she would have to ask daddy when she and her friends got to the house. Being that we were in Germany at the time, I was scared to adopt a cat because I might not have been able to bring the cat back to the states with us. She brought Mittens in and, well, she curled up on my husbands lap and he said âOK!â After all, his little girl had given him âthe lookâ. Iâm now happy to say she made it to the states just fine and she is a big spoiled kitty at 6 1/2 years of age. 2. The day before St. Patrickâs Day, in 2007, my children walked to Wal-Mart with my uncle to go get some ice cream. When they came back, they had a filthy black thing they said was a kitten. I screamed because they were about to put him on my bed. Daddy had just left for Iraq so I had enough on my plate with the first cat. She does not like it when daddy is gone and makes sure everyone knows it. But of course, I could not put this helpless kitten out so I gave him a bath. He fluffed up like a beautiful little orange and white poof ball. Lucky has become as spoiled as the first cat. 3. Last Thursday, my son and his cousin came walking up to me and my friend with a little black kitten. A neighbor was there with us and said the owner of the house wanted the strays gone. She said she thought that this particular kitten had gotten away from a dog just days earlier. When my hands are together, he curls up and still has room to stretch. I felt bad and my son said âPlease, can we keep him?â I, being the sucker, said âNo, we cannot keep Thor but we can take him home until we find him a home.â Yes, I named him before we even got in the car. The little fur ball is the biggest baby ever and we all love him....except Lucky....I think Lucky is a bit jealous. I plan on taking Thor to the vet next week. So much for finding the kitten a good home! He already has one! As much as I hate seeing stray kittens I really hope my children do not bring anymore home, kennel fees during vacations are outrageous!!!! Plus they may be small but they need their room to roam too.
Intuitive Bill The CatThere are stories about how animals know when someone is going to pass away. Well, I know first hand that this is true. My husband passed almost 3 months ago, and the morning that he died, Bill lay at the head of his bed wrapped around him for almost 6 hours. Afterwards he came over to me and wrapped himself around my head. Isnât that something? My brother-in-law didnât believe such things until that day. His dog was there, too, and minutes before, his dog came up to the bed and whimpered, and then she walked away. Animals are so intuitive and they understand so much more than we give them credit for. Bill still cries every night at the front door waiting for my husband to come home! We all have adjustments to make, but I feel sorry for Bill. Heâs 11 years old and my husband found him 3 years ago. He made me promise not to get rid of either cat. I said of course notâthere are always coupons! Thatâs my story.
My Two Kittens Love To Chew On Every Thing But I Find Chew Toys For Kittens Are...Although kittens like to chew, it does not usually last as long as chewing does in puppies. Chewing behavior can often be re-directed to feeder toys that are filled with hard food and treats. As the kittens manipulate the toys to get the food not only will they remain active, they will be chewing as they ingest the material that is released.
I Got This Kitten And I Did Not Have A Bed In My Room So He Got Used To Sleeping With Me...In most situations our cats will adjust to our daily routine and sleeping habits. If we wish to have our cat sleep with us we can perhaps move that along by picking the cat up at bedtime and placing them in our bed. If the bed is quite high off the ground, it may be necessary to create a step or two to help the kitten get on and off the bed which is likely to make them more comfortable with sleeping there.
My Cat Is About 8 Years Old Human Years. I Adopted Her When She Was 4 Years Old, From A...It can be very frustrating when a cat is chewing off their fur. I wish I could give you a miracle diagnosis over the internet but without examining your cat, it is just too difficult. It's great that fleas have been ruled out. I agree with your veterinarians that allergies or a behavioral issue could be possible causes. Infectious causes like mites could be an issue or some cats may over-groom over areas that are painful...for example may over-groom its belly if it has a bladder stone making him uncomfortable. If no tests have been done, that may be a place to start. Skin scrapings and baseline labs can be helpful. It's also an option to try to rule out allergies. Often times a limited ingredient diet can help. These diets have a protein and carbohydrate that your cat has likely not eaten before. These diets are usually veterinary only and must be fed exclusively, with no other foods or treats, for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. If it is an allergic cause, an anti-inflammatory like prednisolone could help. I would talk to either of your veterinarians about what they feel options are based on what they've seen. Good luck!
No More Doggie Door For Our CatsMy daughter, Liz, had a cat named Baby. She was a beautiful and fierce Siamese. Baby had her kittens in Liz's closet. (How she found room in there, I'll never know.) But the kittens loved Liz's room. As they grew older, they took up residence in the Gigantic Barbie House, running from room to room & poking each other through the windows. One day Liz ran out to the kitchen screaming, "A kitten's dead, a kitten's dead!" I followed her back to her bedroom dreading what I might find. Well, it wasn't a deceased kitten, but it was a certifiably dead squirrel. Baby, our hunter, had decided to feed her kittens wild game that day and had dragged her kill through the doggie door, past the kitchen, down the hall, and into the Barbie House. Baby looked distinctly angry as I disposed of the squirrel and her plans to turn her kittens into killers. Then, we found the live snake on the kitchen floor. That was our last outdoor gift from Baby. The doggie door was promptly removed.
